WELCOME TO TROOP 271

This information packet will acquaint you with Troop 271. In March 1952, the Boy Scouts of America granted a charter to St. Michael Church to sponsor Boy Scout Troop 271. The Troop has many years of tradition in the Livonia community and is one of the most respected and active in the Great Lakes Council.

In addition to our Sunday night meetings, we have monthly camping trips in tents and cabins. We have even camped at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and white-water rafted on the Youghiogheny River in Ohiopyle, PA. In addition, many of our Scouts have enjoyed participating in the exciting National and World Scout Jamborees and high adventure treks to Isle Royale National Park and to Philmont Scout Ranch.

When a new Scout registers with Troop 271, he may begin attending our Troop meetings and campouts. Our intention is to make your son’s introduction to Boy Scouts as pleasant as possible.

The Scouts run the Troop. The Adult Troop Leaders guide and support the Scouts in conducting activities. The Troop Committee approves the activities and supports the Scouts and Adult Leaders.  Committee meetings are held once a month on Mondays at 7:30 PM at the St. Michael School library. We encourage adult participation in working with the boys or in other capacities that suit the parent’s talents

If we can be of any help, please contact the Scoutmaster, Committee Chairman or the Assistant Scoutmaster for New Scouts.
